While this list is far from exhaustive, we hope this will be a beginning to answering questions you may have. If you have other specific questions, please see our Contact Us page to request more information, or arrange a meeting.
WHAT IS A "CHURCH PLANT"?
A "church plant" is a young church that is overseen and supported by a more mature church until it has sufficiently grown (both in numbers and maturity) to particularize. Providence Reformed Church is a church plant of Christ Reformed Church.
WHY ANOTHER CHURCH IN SIOUX FALLS?
The Lord had greatly blessed Christ Reformed Church with growth! Many churches, when they grow, choose to purchase and move into a larger building. Christ Reformed, however, always had a vision for a smaller, tight-knit body of believers who know each other by name. This is very difficult to accomplish in a megachurch with hundreds and hundreds of people. Therefore, rather than simply become "bigger", we chose to send a number of households to plant a new Reformed church in Northwest Sioux Falls, at a location that is also easily reached by outlying communities such as Humboldt, Hartford, Baltic, Crooks, Dell Rapids, and Brandon. We greatly desire to have people from these communities join us to glorify and enjoy our awesome God! (see Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:42-47)
WHAT IS "FAMILY SUNDAY SCHOOL"?
Please join us at 9:00am for "Family Sunday School", a Sunday school class for all people (families & individuals) of all ages. This discussion-oriented class works through the Christian Faith by looking at the Scriptures, historic documents (creeds and confessions), church history, etc., and applying them to our everyday lives. In November 2024, we are beginning our Sunday School journey with a survey of the Bible.
WHAT BIBLE VERSION DO YOU USE?
We use the English Standard Version (ESV) in our worship services, copies of which are available when you visit. Regardless of the Bible version you use, you’ll be able to follow along just fine. For more information about the ESV, visit here.
WHAT IS YOUR WORSHIP LIKE?
Services have an easy-to-follow structure that is printed in our bulletins. For our music we primarily use the Trinity Psalter Hymnal, yet we have a CCLI license and also draw from a variety of sources. To learn more about our worship services, click here.
HOW LONG DOES THE SERVICE LAST?
Our service lasts a little over an hour. Afterward, we enjoy a time of fellowship, and then often travel to someone's home for lunch or eat right there in the church building. This is a great opportunity to get to know one another. When you visit, we invite you to stick around, grab a cup of coffee, and get to know us over lunch.
WHAT HAPPENS BEFORE THE SERVICE?
When you arrive early for the worship service, you'll find people congregating outside the sanctuary, while others file in to select a seat. People will welcome you and get you a worship bulletin and song book.
IS THERE A NURSERY AVAILABLE?
We heartily welcome children of all ages in our worship services, and we are used to things being a little noisy! As a church plant with limited facilities, we do not currently offer nursery services. However, we do have a seperate room that nursing mothers may use, as well as other spaces outside of the sanctuary.
WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE THE SERVICES?
We encourage you to contact us and let us know of your interest. You can still become involved in one of our studies. Please prayerfully consider whether God is calling you to be a part of this church.
DO YOU OFFER AN EVENING WORSHIP SERVICE?
On Sunday evenings at 5:00pm, we join our planting church, Christ Reformed Church, for their evening worship services. We hope, Lord willing, to begin our own evening worship services in 2026.
WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON?
We meet throughout the week for various studies and fellowship. Contact us or see our events page for a complete listing.
